This year’s soccer is in full swing. The team has started great traditions and is playing honorably. I have been playing soccer for over twenty years, starting AYSO in Dana Point at the age of seven. Further I moved on the select teams, then to club and traveling teams through junior high and high school. I have played intramural teams at Cal State Fullerton and on several men’s teams for the past ten years. I started coaching 15 years ago, with the Wolf Pack club and now at Capo Valley for the past 12 years. My philosophy of the game has only changed slightly over the years: I still believe that at this level the game of soccer is about camaraderie, refinement of skills in a three touch game, sportsmanship and most important, to have fun with all of it.  The “We over I” concept is the backbone to our program.

We have sifted through two tryouts to come across some of Orange County’s best footballers. Finding a group of players with strong fundamentals and a will to learn at a higher level of the game is the power of the team. This season we have started with a good pre-season strength and conditioning program.  This team is built on a strong level of mediocrity.  There are no weak or over powering spots in our line-up.   Eight seniors and 11 juniors make this one of the naturist teams that I have ever coached. We are working hard at communicating and playing together as a unit.

This is my fifth season as the head Varsity coach; I have great hopes for this group of young men. They will need to work hard to challenge the records and the achievements of the previous teams. This team has what it takes to be a winner. Please come out and watch these boys compete for the South Coast League championship and as many tournament victories as they can bring home.

Thank you for your support.
